Kuching, 29 January 2024 Monday - The 11th Premier of Sarawak Environmental Award (PSEA) Roadshow, led by the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB), is gaining momentum across the state since its launch on January 23, 2024.

Following its inauguration on December 6, 2023, officiated by Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh, the roadshow successfully covered key regions.

In the Central Region, the RH Hotel, Sibu, set the stage on January 23, 2024.

The Northern Region experienced engaging events at Paramount Hotel, Bintulu, on January 24, 2024, and Grand Palace Hotel, Miri, on January 25, 2024.

A pivotal element of the 11th PSEA, the roadshow featured comprehensive briefings by the esteemed Technical Committee and Panel Judges, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rafeah Binti Wahi, Dr. Florianna Lendai Michael Mulok, and Cindy Peter.

These sessions aimed to raise awareness of the award, inform participants about criteria, and enhance understanding of the reporting format, anticipating increased participation and a stronger commitment to environmental excellence.

With a notable turnout of 250 participants – 90 in Sibu, 75 in Bintulu, and 85 in Miri – the roadshow attracted representatives from diverse sectors, including industry players, business entities, government sectors, local authorities, and individuals.

The 11th PSEA has successfully broadened its audience, now spanning five main categories: Industries, Local Authorities, Government Sectors, Open, Eateries, and Food Outlet categories span a wide range of services, including manufacturing, telecommunications, port, electricity supply, waste management, water supply, logistics, construction, plantation, forestry, logging, quarry and mining, shipping, aviation, oil and gas, palm oil mill, shopping mall, hotel and resort, golf courses, gas/petrol station, recycling services, city and municipal council, district council, government sectors, team/individual, eateries, and food outlets.

The theme for the 11th PSEA 2023/2024, “Incorporating Environmental Sustainability into Practices,” underscores the importance of integrating sustainable environmental practices into everyday activities and operations.

Jointly organised by the NREB and Sarawak Business Federation (SBF), in collaboration with various ministries, agencies, and institutions, this prestigious award aims to recognise the environmental efforts and commitments of industries, local authorities, government departments, agencies, eateries, food outlets, and teams/individuals.

Recipients of the 11th PSEA will receive a cash prize, trophy, and Certificate of Achievement for Champion winner, a trophy and Certificate of Achievement for Gold Award winners, a plaque and Certificate of Achievement for Merit Award winners, eligibility to use the award’s logo for publicity purposes with no expiry time frame, recognition as an exemplary organisation committed to environmental protection, and a 50 percent discount for course fees for one environmental protection/awareness program organised by the NREB for two persons, valid for two years following the award (for Champion and Gold winners). – UKASnews
