GeoEnviron is a dedicated database system to handle manage environmental data and information. The system was established for storing, managing, analysing and reporting a wide range of environmental data generated from various activities under the preview of the organization. The environmental data is collected from various groups of users, consisting of internal users (NREB) and external users (relevent government agencies).

The agency are the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development, Department of Irrigation and Drainage Sarawak, Public Works Department, Sewerage Services Department, Land and Survey Department, Department of Agriculture, State Planning Unit, Kuching Water Board, Sarawak Rivers Board, Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) and Department of Environment (DOE).

The data stored in the GeoEnviron comprises of the three categories:

i. Recipient
Recipient is the medium where pollutants end-up, where environment performance has to be measured. These included water-bodies, land and air.

ii. Site
The locality of activities that may have the potential to have an impact on the environment, have either occurred or are occurring. Sites are locations that are of interest to the NREB due to issues related to compliance with environmental legislation. Information attached to this data group include the monitoring and enforcement activities related to the site, administrative information, such as, address, contact, type of activities and etc.

iii. Samples
Samples are the collectives of data to elaborate environmental performance in qualitative ways. Performance of the environmental quality is defined qualitatively based on the results of chosen parameters against agreed standard. The NREB maintain records of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental Management Plan (EMP), Environmental Monitoring Report (EMR), public complaint cases, solid waste management, water quality and leachate monitoring.

In GeoEnviron, the Pollution Prevention Control (PPC) is the module that has been designed and customised, as a tool for users to deal with EIA and EMP data, as well as, approval processes.
